Hard chrome plating, also known as industrial chrome, is a precision engineering process in which a thick layer of chromium (typically 20–500 microns) is electroplated onto metal substrates to enhance surface properties. This coating significantly increases hardness (up to ~70 HRC), reduces friction, improves corrosion resistance, and restores dimensional tolerances on worn or undersized components. It is widely used in high-stress applications such as hydraulic rods, engine components, molds, and rollers due to its excellent wear resistance and low coefficient of friction.
